Membership Information
Eligibility
Non-profit and for-profit corporations, government labs, federally funded research and development centers (FFRDCs), and government-owned contractor-operated labs are eligible to become members. All members must sign a membership agreement and NSF has provisions to manage the process of purchasing memberships for FFRDCs and federal agencies through Interagency Agreements.
Special Opportunities for Small Businesses
NSF has provided its Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) grantees opportunities and funding to join an Industry-University Cooperative Research Center (IUCRC). The supplements are intended to accelerate the innovation process by partnering industry-relevant academic research with commercialization-focused small business research.
Membership Benefits
The benefits that each member organization receives from joining the CCAA include:
- One or more representatives (depending on the membership level) on the Center’s Industry Advisory Board (IAB). The IAB determines the Center’s research directions and reviews all research performed within the Center through semi-annual IAB meetings.
- High return on the membership investment — 90% of member funds allocated to the direct costs of the center’s research projects.
- Advanced access to all research being performed at the three university sites (University of North Carolina at Charlotte, George Mason, and Colorado State University).
- Access to the collective expertise of researchers across the the three university sites.
- Opportunities to collaborate with academic reasearchers and other industry partners on projects of interest to the organization.
- Access to students and researchers for the purpose of recruiting interns and full-time employees.
How to Become a Member
Members join through one of the university sites. Membership for eligible organizations requires the execution of the CCAA membership agreement and payment of the applicable membership fee. Please contact the site director if you need additional information about membership or to request a draft of the membership agreement.
